BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The uninteresting activities in learning vocabulary
Most of students have difficulties in spelling English words
The students’ low motivation in learning English
The effective vocabulary teaching technique to be applied is Games


PROBLEM STATEMENTS

Can games improve the students’ English vocabulary and how far can games improve the students’ English vocabulary mastery ?
What is the most significant improvement of the components of vocabulary by using games?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of games in improving the student’s English vocabulary ?


REVIEW OF LITERATURE

ENGLISH VOCABULARY MASTERY

- Mastery : Knowledge, skill, or ability for a unit of instruction / subject
- Vocabulary : a set of words known to a person or other entity, or that part of a specific
language
GAME : an activity in which participations follows prescribed rules that differ
from those of real life as they serve to attain a challenging goal.

ACTION HYPOTHESIS

Games can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery
The most significant improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery is in meaning
Games have more strengths than weaknesses when they are used for teaching vocabulary to children.
